Definition

Triple Double is when an NBA player achieves double digits in three different statistical categories in a game.

Example

Example 1:

In January 2018 James Harden was the first player in NBA history to have a 60 point triple double.

James Harden recorded: 60 Points, 11 Assists, 10 Rebounds

Example 2:

Triple doubles can also be counted with Steals and Blocks. In 1987 Hakeem Olajuwon recorded a 38 point triple double.

Hakeem Olajuwon recorded: 38 Points, 12 Blocks, 17 Rebounds

You can see from this example, Hakeem recorded a triple double with double digits blocks.

On this same night Hakeem also had 7 Steals and 6 Assists making it very close to a quintuple double.
